What is lilac setting powder, and how to use it

There's a new setting powder on the block, and it's lilac! Intrigued?

Lilac setting powder is exactly what it sounds like; a lilac-coloured powder that can be applied to your skin to help oil control, brighten your complexion and set makeup. Lilac is great for brightening the skin, neutralising dark circles & masking yellow undertones!

Additionally, lilac setting powders don't have any oil or other ingredients that could clog pores or irritate your skin, and most, like our TikTok viral Vitamin Babe pink powder are talc-free too!

What is lilac setting powder?

Lilac setting powder is a fine-milled setting powder with a lavender pigment. It sets makeup and helps prevent it from settling into fine lines and pores, while brightening the skin by colour correcting.

Who is lilac setting powder good for?

Lilac setting powder is ideal for light to fair skin tones, as well as those with a yellow undertone, but can be used on any skin type. If you have dry skin, make sure to prep your skin with moisturiser and use a hydrating primer and hydrating setting mist.

How to use lilac setting powder.

The best way to use lilac powder is to apply it to areas you want to brighten and control oil rather than all over your face. This is often under the eyes and the T-zone. The goal is to apply only a little of it at once--you want to go light so that your skin looks natural, not cakey or powdery.

We recommend using a beauty blender or powder puff by gently pressing the product into your skin, letting it sit for a few minutes, and brushing off any excess with a fluffy powder brush. Finish your makeup with a setting mist.

We have a guide to setting mists here if you're trying the right one for your skin type.

What is the difference between translucent setting powder and lilac setting powder

The main difference between lilac powder and translucent setting powder is that translucent powder doesn't have any pigment. Instead, it has a white-looking formula that applies invisibly on the skin, making it suitable for all skin tones. Lilac powder has the same pore-filtering powers as a translucent powder; however it is tinted lilac, making it ultra-brightening and perfect for fair to light skin tones.

Ready to give it a try? Lilac setting powder is a great product to use if you want to set your makeup and make it last longer. It's also good for people who have oily skin because it helps keep oil from breaking down the makeup on your face throughout the day.
